VIS is a fast newly designed single-handed dinghy with gennaker.
VIS has been presented to ISAF in March 2000 at the ISAF Evaluation Event for a future Olympic single-hander.
The boat has been designed considering the fundamental criteria set out by ISAF:
- high performance;
- to provide equal competition for a wide range of crew stature;
- athletic prowess required;
- challenging technically and tactically.
The hull is thin terminating to a very thin bow to have a correct balance between stability and resistance.
Wings are rigid laminate (no tubes!) :
- to let sailor' s going in and out on the wire easier;
- for safe;
- to give a nice layout.
Wings can be moved inside/outside by means of rails giving equalization. Carbon mast ,being very stiff and light plus easy to be tuned,give more performances and is safer when capzised.
